On Friday, December 9th, 20 OnteoraHigh School students participated in the second “Poetry Out Loud” competition in the high school auditorium.POL is a national recitation contest sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Within two hours, the DECA members raised $3,906 with the help of the music groups from the district and high school students who performed.This was our 26th annual telethon and only fundraiser for Holiday Helping Hands.
Teams of 4 from all parts of the Onteora community (students, parents, alumni, teachers, staff, and administrators) will gather together for a fun-filled evening of trivia, puzzles, and general knowledge.
In the spring of the 2006-2007 school year, former teaching assistant Mary Shultis came to me with urgency; she felt students in our school who were gay or who were questioning their sexuality did not have a voice in our community, and that these students were furthermore not safe from bullying and harassment by their peers.
The members of the Onteora Business Department were recently informed that their department has been awarded the Department of the Year, for Region 3, by the New York State Education Department.
