Stuff the Bus and Dress the Turkey

Guidance counselor Brian Schaffer is mentoring high school students in the Peer Leadership program by helping them facilitate turkey feather sales during middle school lunch.

Mrs. Ciaacio’s class will purchase the actual food pantry items as part of their Home and Careers and personal budgeting curriculum.   These students will use their skills to determine what items are nutritious, economical and have a long shelf life.  Ms. Grimm, Home and careers teacher, will help guide this practical learning activity.

In December, middle school students will also run a food item collection drive and bring in appropriate food pantry items to “Stuff-The-Bus.”  In a friendly competition between homerooms, we’ll see who provides the largest number of food pantry items.  On December 21st, select middle school students will load the food drive items and the turkey feather purchases onto a school bus, which will then be delivered to the Family of Woodstock food pantry -- just in time for holiday distribution.  These annual giving drives have become a wonderful holiday tradition at the middle school.
