For the past two weeks the front entrance of our school has been adorned with boxes disguised as adorable little yellow school buses and pet houses waiting to be filled with food and supplies for our local food pantry in Woodstock and at the Saugerties Animal Shelter.  Each morning my first graders could be heard persuading faculty, staff, and students to: "Fill the buses, fill the buses, fill the buses...PLEASE!  These filled-to-the-rim gifts of kindness from all of us were very appreciated by their recipients.  ~ Carol Brower

The Boys Book Club of Guys Read at Bennett is a project that was established and run during the first three sessions or our afterschool activities. I began this project with many different goals in mind. The first and foremost was to re-instill the love of books for many of the boys I have contact with on a regular basis as an AIS Reading Teacher. The program has progressed from volunteer adult male role model readers, reading to the boys to broaden their interests in topics to read about, to the students taking an active part in reading books to form the BBT (Boys Book Club) Guys Read Library

Thursday, January 30th Mr. Bill Michella, Mrs. Elohim Pacheco and Mrs. Nicole Polacco kicked off a three week reading program with an exciting assembly.  Local author, David Golden stopped by to share his love of reading. He showed the children the process of writing a book and even brought in a model to share with the second and third graders.
