Woodstock Celebrates Another Fantastic GO GREEN DAY

The local Ravensbeard organization came with  beautiful raptors to teach students about wild bird rehabilitation.  DEC volunteers were here to do forest safety with Smokey the Bear, stream watch, and watershed stations.  WAAM showed kids how to make mud-and-clay seed bundles for fun planting projects.  The Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency presented a very thorough, hands-on recycling lesson.  And Ashokan came with their gigantic blow up earth ball for games on the soccer field.  We also had new presenters this year from Clearwater and the New Visions program at BOCES.  Through song, students learned about the Hudson River ecology, and adult-ed students from BOCES presented alternative energy workshops á la “Bill Nye the Science Guy,” and toured the kids through a NYSERTA solar mobile classroom.

Go Green!
